Weekend Shenanigans x3!

I have no excuse as to why I haven't blogged in close to a month since my birthday, besides the fact that I've been BUSY -- and that's not an exaggeration...

I've honestly been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the last 25 days or so, but ya know what, I have no complaints.  I'm thankful that I have so many awesome people in my life to do things like this with.  Life's little celebrations/milestones is what it's all about...right?!

So, wanna know what I've been doing?! Let's do a little recap, shall we?

I had to pull out my Erin Condren for this, BTW.

March 30th - Couple's Shower
Megan, Stefanie, and I threw Amber and Brent an "I Do BBQ" at my parent's house and it turned out fantastic!!

Susanna's mama, Katy, helped me make the invites.  They looked like a postcard on the other side..precious!

The happy couple!

Cornhole!!
The girls!

He was such a huge help!!
He helped set up everything up AND he was the grill master : )

Easter Sunday!
Church then lunch with my WHOLE family -- Eric passed the test...they all LOVED him!

April 4th - Follow U Musical
A little background info:
I started volunteering in children's church about 5 months ago and it has honestly been one of the best decisions I've ever made!  Not only did it help introduce me to sweetheart, but I've really enjoyed serving the Lord in His church and spending time with the kids, of course!

Creek Kids does a musical each Spring and I was lucky enough to be a part of it this year!  I taught 2 ballet dances to a group of girls and it was so much fun.  It took up A LOT of time, but seeing those kids perform that night made it ALL worth it!  I was crying by the end of the performance...it was just a really neat thing to be a part of!

Me with two of my dancers, Mackenzie and Madison

April 5th - Amber and Brent's Rehearsal Dinner
Dress courtesy of Kiki La' Rue!

April 6th - Wedding Day!!
It turned out to be such a beautiful day!  Amber has been my best friend for the past 13 years or so and I was so honored to be a part of her special day!

And that's all for today, folks...I still have pictures from the Master's Golf Tournament and the Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan concert to show off, but we'll save those for tomorrow!!

I hope to catch up on some blogs later this afternoon...I sure have missed my bloggy friends!!

Happy Monday!

Oh, hey I'm 28 today!!

Best start putting first things first -
Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth

Don't Blink
This song came on the radio this morning while I was making my bed and I kinda had a little moment --

I'm freakin' 28 years old today.

Wow.  Where the heck has time gone?  It seems like I was walking across the stage for kindergarten high school graduation just yesterday.

I may or may not have had a depressing moment when I realized I was one year closer to thirty...but then I decided to embrace it.  I've lived a damn good life and I'm a very lucky girl -- I couldn't have asked for a better family or sweeter friends.  I am truly blessed.

Speaking of being blessed -- God sure knew what He was doing when He placed this guy in my life.
Perfect timing, I tell ya.

He's patient.  He has a heart of gold.  He's been there, done that in life.  He has an amazing testimony that I hope to share with you guys soon.  He's a southern gentleman that calls me "sugar" and opens the doors for me.  And most importantly -- he loves the Lord with every ounce of his being...and that my friends, is the best part.

And to top it all off, he gave me a pretty amazing birthday weekend, too.

We went to Savannah on Saturday and watched the parade.  It was awesome!  I was a little worried it would be a bunch of obnoxious drunk people...but it wasn't!   We had a blast and everyone was so friendly and happy.  I loved it.

See the Clydesdale horses?!  They were so pretty and BIG!  The ground literally shook when they walked by.

When I grow up, I hope to be just like this lovely lady -- she gave each and every good lookin' man that came through the parade a kiss on the cheek.  Best part? She left her mark with red lipstick! Precious.
...yes, those are lime green keds. #winning

Golden Doodle puppy...so stinkin' cute!  Who wants to buy me one of these for my bday?!

On Saturday night we went to a drive in movie theater!  Ahhh!  So neat!  Too bad we were exhausted and we both fell asleep in the bed of his truck during the movie.  No complaints, though -- sleeping under the stars on a pile of blankets in 70 degree weather = perfection!
Since I have dance tonight, sweetheart dropped by with these purdy things last night....
He sure does know how to make a girl smile : )

It's only 10:00 AM and 28 already feels GREAT even though I'm one year closer to 30 thanks to all of the amazing people in my life. My parents are taking me to lunch today and I'm going to dinner with my roomie tonight after dance...nothing special, but it's all I need!  This weekend will be the BIG celebration -- all of my friends are getting together for Steeplechase in Aiken -- bring on the big floppy hats and sundresses...oh, and the horse races, too!
 Steeplechase 2012

Here's to hoping 28 is my best year yet!

That time my dog ate a rock and St. Patty's Day in Savannah!!

A productive week equals a non productive blogging week.

You win some, you lose some.

Let's do a recap of my week via pictures, shall we?

Follow me on IG - KDAILEY3198
L to R:

1 - Don't you love my creativity skills?  I'm sure my j-o-b appreciates my degree in Early Childhood Education....the corporate world loves cheesy Spring bulletin boards just as much as kindergartners do.  True story.

2 - I found these cute little water bottles at Hobby Lobby ($1.50 a piece!) and my friend, Kristy, added the names to them for me at the last minute.  Aren't they precious?

One of the little boys cracked his water bottle two hours after he got it...so that was definitely a fail on my part.  You get what you pay for, I guess!

3 - Watched this little guy at his first t-ball practice and it was quite entertaining.  He kept "sliding" into home base like a champ.  The only problem was his "slide" ended about 3 feet from the base -- we didn't have the heart to tell him that it didn't count if he didn't touch the base.  We'll fix that later.

4 -  This little guy decided to eat a rock and a staple.  Mom called me on Tuesday freaking out because he wasn't feeling good.  We took him to the vet the next day and there it was...a staple in his small intestines along with another large object that ended up being a rock.  Crazy dog will eat anything and everything.  That little surgery is gonna cost mama and daddy quite a lot.  But, in their words, "We don't care...he's our baby."
My parents need a grandchild.

L to R:

1 - It's that time of year again!  Augusta starts getting a little cray cray in March/April.  People start getting these pretty little tickets/badges in the mail and money starts flying.  People are paying $300 for one of those babies up there.  Master's Week in Augusta is like Christmas to us... it's our favorite time of the year!

I'm going to do a post about Master's Week pretty soon -- I have lots of fun stories to share about what this week means to us locals.

2 - This made me happy.  The ATM was the first to tell me "Happy Birthday"!  Sure, Mr. ATM was a week early...but it's the thought that counts.  I stood there for a minute and waited to see if he'd shoot out an extra $20 for my birthday gift, but it never happened.  Lame.

My birthday is Tuesday, btw and I'm not gonna lie, I'm not looking forward to turning 28 -- it sounds so much older than 27 does!

3 and 4 - I got to try on my bridesmaids dress for Amber's wedding yesterday!  This dress didn't zip a month ago...so it definitely made my day when that baby zipped up past the "girls".

It's amazing what cutting out sweets and some alcohol can do (a glass of wine here and there doesn't count)!

Amber's wedding party received these dresses for FREE thanks to a FB Contest we won.  So, I only had to pay $30 to get the dress shortened to knee length.  Winning!

So, there's my week -- busy and rather boring.

Luckily, today is Friday and tomorrow is ST. PATRICK'S DAY!  St. Patty's Day is one of my favorite holidays and this year, I'll be celebrating in Savannah with Eric...

He told me about this little surprise sometime last week and I'm so stinkin' excited.  Savannah is the second largest St. Patrick's Day gathering in the US and it's only 2 hours away from Augusta, but for some crazy reason...I've never been and neither has he.  But, we're going this year!  We're leaving super early so we can get there in time for the parade and the rest of the shenanigans that will be taking place.

Say a little prayer that I don't knock someone out for pushing me.  There are going to be a TON of people there and crowds kinda sorta freak me out...but only sometimes.  Just don't rub your sweaty-ness (it's supposed to be 78 degrees) against my body and I'll be okay.

No, but really, from what I've heard, we're either going to love it or hate it.  I've heard some people say they'll never go again and some people say they go every year.  Either way, I think it'll be cool to say I've gone at least once.  Right?!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a SAFE St. Patty's Day!

10 Compliments Men Hate Getting

10 Compliments Men Hate Getting

I saw this article on Yahoo this morning and it made me laugh a little because I've definitely given a few of these "compliments" to different men in my life.

Oops!

Let's talk about a few of these "unmanly" compliments that Yahoo says are a "No, No"....

"I fold the laundry this way, but thanks for trying without me asking."

I don't necessarily say it in those words, but I'm definitely guilty of this. If my guy is folding my towels wrong -- I'm gonna tell him and then I'm gonna show him how to fix it.

I blame it on my OCD and my mama.

Mama always liked her towels folded with the "three fold" method-- this method makes for a nice looking stack of towels in the linen closet.  It also saves space.

amiright? or amicrazy??!
via
See?  Perfection.

This, on the other hand, drives me insane...
via

Sure, it looks halfway decent nice -- but it takes up too much room.  I'm completely well aware of the fact that this is how most normal people fold their towels....but not this girl -- I fold Mrs. T's way.

I do agree with Yahoo when they say you should just appreciate that he's "helping", but I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing my towel folding expertise with my guy, or anybody for that matter.

Okay, okay...maybe I need to work on this one.

"You're so cute!"

Oh, man.  Guys HATE the word "cute"!  I agree with Yahoo when they say, puppies and babies are "cute", not your manly-man.

I'm not gonna lie-- I might still use the word to describe a guy, BUT I don't use it around him, I use it around my girlfriends.  And even then, I don't ever really use the word "cute" to describe his "looks", I typically use the word to describe something "cute" that he did...

For example -- he slipped a little note in my lunchbox this morning...aw, that was cute...or he pushed Susanna in the swing at the park...so stinkin' cute! Or maybe he snuck a few kisses on my cheek when nobody was looking...

SO CUTE!

I've learned that the words "sweet" and "sexy" work way better than "cute" when complimenting a guy on the things listed above...

That note he left?  Tell him how "sweet" it was of him.  When he pushes Susanna in the swing?  Tell him, "There's something sexy about watching how good you are with kids..."  He'll eat that shiz up.   Oh and those kisses? No words are necessary.  A nice little hand squeeze will do just fine.  Just don't tell him he's being cute -- unless you want him to stop doing whatever it is that he just did.

Someone just recently referred to Eric and I as being "precious" together...

His response?  "She talks like an 80 year old woman!  Who uses that word?!"  Ha!

He's so precious...

"My husband did the most romantic thing ever."

Oops.  I'm definitely guilty of this -- but most girls are.  I try not to be "boastful" about things my guy does, but heck, things like Instagram and this blog make that hard!  I don't see anything wrong with being "proud" of those flowers that were just delivered at work or being excited about the candlelit dinner you just came home to.  Social media makes it hard for our girly-girl brains not to immediately pull out the phone and snap a picture of that sweet thing he just did.

It's all about documentation..

I love me some Instagram, BUT I do think there are some things that should be kept to a minimum...for privacy's sake and for time's sake.

On Valentine's Day this year, a girl I follow on IG uploaded like 5 pictures in 5 minutes of the surprise she came home to -- the roses that led to the bedroom, the roses on the bed, the roses in the bathtub, the candles around the bathtub, etc.  My thoughts?

GET OFF THE PHONE AND GO JUMP IN THAT BATHTUB, GIRLFRAND!  Go have some sexy time with your man, for crying out loud!

Whew.  That felt good.

Okay, so maybe I was just being the bitter, lonely, single girl on Valentine's Day...but seriously? 5 pictures in 5 minutes?  C'mon now!

Don't waste your precious time with your man snapping pictures...enjoy the moment with him and stop concentrating so much on "documenting".  As bloggers, I think we're ALL guilty of this one.  It's something I need to work on myself, that's for sure!

I always love Yahoo's "dating advice".  It's usually quite entertaining.  If you have a few minutes to read the rest of the compliments, please do -- they'll probably make you laugh, too.  Like I said, I agree with some of them, but some of them are just silly.  If some of those things really bother your man, someone needs to tell him to grow a pair.  Just sayin'.

And that's it for my Random Wednesday, folks.

Now, go link up with Shanna

Peace and blessings!

Weekend Shenanigans!

I started my day off with a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and it has made for a good morning.

I couldn't figure out why so many of the dance moms gave me gift cards to Dunkin' Donuts for Christmas this year.  I mean, c'mon...donuts and dancing just don't mix -- HELLO dance costumes.

After the 2nd or 3rd gift card, I turned to one of the other teachers and said, "What's up with the DD gift cards?!"

"They have the BEST coffee!!!"

And she was so right.  Apparently everyone knew this, except me, of course.  But now I know...and I'm obsessed.  Lucky for me, I have enough gift cards to last me for the next month or so.  Winning.

Moving on --

I had a crazy, busy weekend.  I don't think I "relaxed" at all.

Friday:
Our competition team performed a few of their dances at a middle school beauty pageant -- it gave the girls an opportunity to practice on a stage before they competed and it also provided "entertainment" for the audience while the judges scored the pageant girls.

First of all, since when do middle schools have beauty pageants?  I swear, kids these days look older and older every day.  Those girls had better hair than I did.  And clothes, too!  I was so awkward in middle school...braces and middle parts just weren't pageant material. Whatevz.

I was lucky enough to sit with this sweet girl and her mama, Angela, during the pageant.   Angela and I taught dance together for quite a few years and she's still one of my good friends.
Baby Gracelyn
Isn't she a beauty?
Auntie KK is in love.

Saturday:
Amber and I got up bright and early and drove to Lexington, SC to watch the girls compete at a dance competition.  I'm not trying to brag, but we have some damn good dancers on our competition team.

We have 6 and 7 year olds that compete this year and they literally amaze me.  I taught a lot of these kids when they were 2-4 years old, so it makes me happy seeing them dance on the competition team now.  I like to think I played a little part in their success as a dancer : )

I taught that little bunny standing up when she was TWO! I believe she's 9 now?  Thank you for making Miss Kristen feel old, Brinley!

All of the dances scored "Platinum" or "Elite Platinum" -- the highest scores you can get.  I think we might have had one "High Gold".  We also received a lot of "overall" scores.  If you're not a dancer, this probably doesn't make any sense to you what-so-ever...so let's just put it this way -- the girls kicked some booty.   Abby Lee has nothing on us.

Saturday Evening:
When I got back to Augusta, Eric and I went to dinner and then we ran a few errands before going back to his house to watch a movie.

Funny story - I told him I needed to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to pick out a gift for my cousin's wedding shower.  Bless his heart, he had never been there before -- he was like "Isn't that where they sell the lotion and smelly stuff?!"  No, sweetheart...that would be Bath and Body Works.  MEN!

He makes me happy.  Such a sweet, sweet man.

Sunday:
I spent the whole morning at rehearsal for the musical our kids at church are doing in April.  No, I'm not taking any part in the singing -- I'm teaching the girls a ballet dances for two of the songs.  This girl doesn't sing!

After church, Amber and I had lunch and then I headed to my cousin's wedding shower.  I ended my evening back at church with Eric.  It was a great day!

Like I said, it was a busy, busy weekend...but I enjoyed every minute of it!  I love the way things are going right now.  I feel like so many prayers are being answered and it feels good.

And to top it all off, this guy and his sweet little gestures make my heart happy.

Have a great Monday, ladies!
